Living as followers of Christ by trusting God’s Word, following the Holy Spirit, and showing Christ’s love even toward those who oppose us.
In Luke 6, Jesus teaches us that the blessings of His kingdom are not measured by earthly wealth, comfort, popularity, or acceptance. We as believers may experience hardship, rejection, hunger, sorrow, and even hatred because of Christ, but our true reward is in heaven. We are also warned against false teachers and are reminded to test everything against Scripture, because God’s Word is the standard of truth.
Remember Jesus commands us to love our enemies, bless those who curse us, pray for those who mistreat us, and do good to those who hate us. This kind of love is not based on feelings but is a deliberate, selfless choice that reflects the love Christ demonstrated at the cross. Christians are called to hate evil while still desiring the salvation of those who oppose God and His people. Ultimately, salvation does not come through good works or human effort, but through the shed blood, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Because Christ has changed us, we are called to boldly share His Word, plant and water seeds of the Gospel, and trust God to bring forth the fruit.
